Male Menopause

theo hodge jrWhether you are a male or a female, you probably know something about the much talked about, much joked about female menopause. However, some doctors are starting to talk about the possibility of their patients having male menopause. Josephine Tonight!: Entertaining

josephine at metro stageEntertaining! Josephine Tonight! was probably the best production I have seen at MetroStage.

While Metro Stage's production of Mahalia was enlightening and the production of Two Queens, One Castle was riveting, Josephine Tonight! combined great music, a great story line and Zurin Villanueva’s eagerness to capture Baker’s zeal to sing and dance.

The music was so good that even if you do not like Baker’s St. Louis to Paris story, you will enjoy the play.

As a lower-cost production, several of the actors skillfully played multiple parts including James T. Lane and James Alexander. One of their best performances was not as their major characters, but as two precision talking Harlem talent agents rejecting Baker because she was too dark and too thin.

Speaking of the cast’s ability to learn to play several parts in three weeks, director and choreographer Gregory Hines added after the show, “They even played White people.” Also, supporting the great performance was RAIFORD award winner and costume designer Reggie Ray and hair stylist Greg Bazemore.

You Lie!
And I Am Telling You!

"If I'm willing to give something up as somebody who's been extraordinarily blessed, and give up some of the tax breaks that I enjoy, I actually think that's going to make economic sense. But for me as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus' teaching that 'for unto whom much is given, much shall be required.' It mirrors the Islamic belief that those who've been blessed have an obligation to use those blessings to help others, or the Jewish doctrine of moderation and consideration for others."

- President Obama

"Look in the end this is going to be a referendum on Barack Obama. Did he fulfill the promises that he made to the American people? Did he live up to the standards that Barack Obama set for himself: unemployment, jobs, the debt, the deficit? The answer to all of those questions is, no."

- Republican National Committee Chairman Priebus On CBS’s Face The Nation
  • "Osama Bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive."
