The
Brothers Size Opens at Studio Theater - DC / Aretha in B’Mo

McCraney
penned a creative and thrilling tale of two Louisiana brothers and a
mysterious man who threatens to drive them apart. The contemporary play
magnificently plays fast and loose with West African tales.
The
play centers around Ogon, an auto mechanic, his brother Oshoosi, a
recent parolee, and Elegba, Oshoosi’s old prison mate. At the
beat of the drum, Ogun attempts to help his brother find a better life;
Elegba tries to keep him back. The
Brothers Size runs from Tuesday,
January 2 to Saturday, February 10.

The Exposure Group-
Black Photographers Meet
The Exposure Group:
African-American Photographers Association, will hold its monthly
meeting Wednesday, January 9 at the historic Charles Sumner School,
17th & M Streets, NW at 6:45p.
Besides
the reading of minutes and upcoming events, each meeting includes a
presentation. Harry Markel of MorePhotos talked about a new
viewing and ordering system for professional photographers at the
November meeting. Upscale wedding photographer Robert T. Williams
was December’s special presenter. Williams fees start at $9,500
and his portfolio includes the wedding of Washington Mystics owner
Sheila Johnson. During his presentation he talked much
about the photographer business.

Celebrate Kwanzaa
with African
Heritage Dancers
 Melvin Deal brings
his renowned African Heritage company to the Publick Playhouse in
Cheverly, MD Friday, December 28 at 8p. Other performers include
Master Griot Baba C and Tomorrow’s Voices. Tickets are $10, $8 for
seniors and students, $5 for children age 5 and under.
The Publick Playhouse

Another Hatcher Takes Office in Gary
Forty
years after her father, Richard G. Hatcher, became mayor of Gary and
one of the first two Blacks elected to lead a major American
city, Ragen Hatcher-Mathews will take a seat on the Gary City
Council this January. Her father served on the council before his
election as mayor.

Aretha Franklin Comes to Baltimore
The Queen of Soul will present a
live performance at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall Thursday, March 20 in
Baltimore to benefit the Bon Secours of Maryland Foundation. The
concert begins at 8p. Tickets range from $100 to $375.
